Page Recieved - Plane down at Wieambilla approx 37km from Chinchilla Tara nil information confirmed yet Chinchilla being dispatched
Haven't heard anything from the fireys on the radio referance stream for Toowomba. Waiting for info from QPS Media

Just had a quick sticky on OMS, no aircraft down, good intent call.
Maybe it was space junk?

Plane crash fears dispelled
EMERGENCY services spent almost three hours searching for a plane crash near Chinchilla after reports from a concerned motorist on Monday night.
A motorist travelling south called triple zero after seeing a large silver plane flying low and then flames in the distance after it disappeared from sight at 9pm.
Two fire crews, police and paramedics searched the area of Dougalls Road at Wieambilla, between Chinchilla and Tara for hours.
Queensland Fire and Rescue Service communications officer Sue Englart said it was believed the flames were 15kms north of Dougalls Road.
The Brisbane office of Airservices Australia was contacted.
However, they said they had no aircraft flying in the area.
“The caller had genuine concerns,” Ms Englart said.
Emergency services continued to search the area until Dalby police contacted the Civil Aviation Safety Authority in Canberra.
Acting Sergeant Peter Horn said police were able to confirm the aircraft was a low-flying Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) C-17 Globemaster.
The very large cargo plane was descending to fly low and it is believed the flames spotted were from its four jet engines.
It did not crash.
Fire crews were advised at 11.42pm and left the scene minutes later.

Interesting. Although, C-17 engines do not emit flames if operating normally. Flames from any high-bypass gas turbine usually = bad juju. I suspect there is some misinformation in the report. Alex.

And you would think that brisbane tower would know if a C17 is flying in the area.

Where did the quote mention Brisbane tower?
For those that dont know - the tower only really looks after the airspace within around 5nm.
Depending on the airspace - you don't need anyone's permission or clearance to fly.
Out that way - mentioned in the article - depending on what flight rules and the altitude - clearance is not required and no one may not know what aircraft are flying....
