Urgent Advise needed on purchasing

Hey Guys,
Newbie again. I'm getting my Radio tomorrow and i needed some advise on purchasing my first radio.
I have a ford falcon 2004 BA which means I don't have room to mount a full DIM1 unit. I've been advised that maybe the GME TX3440 would be suitable because I can hide the transceiver under the dash/seat. All i need to know is can this radio allow me to do basic TX and RX of QPS and QAS on the Gold Coast. Also does this gear come with any programming software or do you need to program all via the handset?
If it doesn't do what i need can you guys recommend a device that would?
Thanks guys!
