Re: QFRS - Fleet 774
I didn't get a photo of it bit the back opens up and becomes a command pod. It has whiteboards, radios and everything else they need to run an incident. It lowers down so the firies wont have to constantly reach up to use it. I'll see if someone got a photo of it open.alinco21 wrote:Why does the back do that?

It's been like that for as long as I can remember. It's nearing 12 years old now so it's gonna be due for a midlife refurbishment soon (next couple of years) where they will most likely come out with the new livery announced a while ago for all states.D1cko wrote:How long were they using that livery? Re: QFRS - Fleet 774
I know there is a National agreement with all Emergency Services to increase the visability of Emergency vehicles via Lime yellow/Green paint schemes and/or fluroscent livery and the use of LED emergency lighting to get 360deg coverage.
Most are opting for the Livery and LED emergency lighting, an example is the new livery scheme and LED emergency lighting all the way around the vehicle for FRNSW.
Even the QLD version of the NSW RTA highway assistance vehicles (sorry don't know the name of them) have gone for the English style livery up the sides of their vehicles (big blue and fluro yellow squares).
It came about after a research paper by an ACT (I think) Ambo who raised issues about visability of emergency services vehicles and how it could be improved, the general gist was to have large blocks of reflective fluroscent tape, preferably lime yellow/green as it is more visible to the human eyes vision range. Very interesting research, it didn't include the research done by some American Fire Services that stated sickness rates of fire fighters increased severly (up to 70%) when working around the fluro yellow/green coloured trucks.

It's a command and a rescue truck in one. It has all the necessary equipment to control an incident (whiteboards, computers, radios etc), it also carries extra cutting gear, extra BA kits, gas monitoring tools, splash suits for chemical spills)aussiefire37 wrote:What sort of equipment does this truck have?
