Pac Blue E190 RTO in NZ

Post by Phantom »

Thought that many of you may like to view this ....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=esrrsrvfuEk

Was of a E190 that was touring around NZ - as you may (or may not) be able to pick out - a bird was ingested down the RH engine - prior to V1 - and the pilots elected to reject the Take-off - dont know the size of bird.

PS - Was not a Kiwi

Nice instincts by the pilots.

Split-second reactions.

Any later and it would've been too late to cancel the take-off.

Not a kiwi! LOL. It would have to be one of your home grown Australian Spur-winged Plovers. They are also hanging around the air fields over here (Blenheim NZ). Every few weeks or so, (in the summer months) a local airfield takes a fire tender vehicle complete with a 'shot gun and blanks' and do an hour or so off 'discouragement therapy! ! Seems to work OK. Perhaps your guys over there should try it!
