Nearly ALL two-way radio services have CTCSS on them. For example: QAS has at least three different Channel numbers for some of their frequencies, and this can only be achieved by using different CTCSS.

For the QFRS:
Channel Numbers 10 to 39 are used in South Eastern, North Coast, and Northern Regions, and
Channel Numbers 40 to 69, which are the same frequencies, are used in South Western, Brisbane, Far Northern, and Central Regions.

FWIW: The Picnic Point frequency is actually Channel 61, which has a different CTCSS from Channel 31. I don't know the QFRS CTCSS tones, as scanner users generally don't need them.

I thought that there was only two frequencies for South West.

But;

43 - 466.0250 - Between Warwick and Stanthorpe
50 - 466.9500 - Dalby; Bunya Mountains
52 - 467.2750 - Kilcoy and Miles
54 - 467.3500 - Charleville, Inglewood and Mt Gravatt
86 - Voting Group for Townsville and Mt Isa

Two Frequencies for Toowoomba, not for South West Region..

What is 404.700 ?

86 is also used in Toowoomba.

Where I live, I can here Firecom Southwest, and all on the Toowoomba chanell on this frequency, however can not hear our pumps call Firecom. I can hear Firecom call our Pumps and Station, but can not hear us talk back to them. Obviously we transmit on a different frequency to that we receive from.

I know that Toowoomba transmits and receives on the same frequency, but out of Toowoomba, Pumps transmit on one frequency and receives transmissions on a seperate frequency.

We use CH43 at the moment, because, CH50 has too many bugs in the frequency. However, I can not hear Firecom on that freq that you gave me above for CH43. Maybe this is the Freq that we transmit on. and I have to listen to 404.700 to receive FireCom.

Correct. But you should be able to hear your Pumps via the repeater, unless you are very close to the Pumps, and the Pump's Transmitter is overloading your scanner.
I know that Toowoomba transmits and receives on the same frequency.
Really! All Toowoomba appliances operate through the Mt Kynoch (Ch 46) or Picnic Point (Ch 61) Repeaters, except for actual Fireground communications. Repeaters have a Transmit frequency, and a Receive frequency, which are not the same.

According to the ACMA Database, Channel 43 in located on Mt Kiangarow (generally considered to be part of the Bunya Mountains), and Transmits on 466.025 MHz, and Receives on 456.5250. 404.700 / 414.1500 MHz is a link between Mt Kiangarow and the Dalby Fire Station.
86 is also used in Toowoomba.
Ch 86 is not a Frequency as such, but is a Vote Group comprising Channels 24, 26, and 29.
The Vote Group comprising Ch 46 and Ch 61, which is believed to be Ch 82, is used in Toowoomba.

All I know is that 404.700 gives me the strongest signal at my house. I can here both transmissions from pumps and FC in Toowoomba areas, but out of Toowoomba, I can only hear FC talking to them, I can not hear Pumps / Stations calling FC. By saying this, I can hear Pumps and Stations from Crows Nest to most areas in Area 2 (Warwick).

I will have a play tonight, but last night I put in 466.025 and I could hear FC from Toowoomba on this channel however it was very scratchy, where as 404.700 is crystal clear.

I also have 466.950, but hear nothing at the moment.

So will try and change it to 466.025 and 466.5250

Maybe 404.700 is so clear, as you said it is the link to Dalby Station, and it is only about 800M from my house.

Opps I meant 82, not 86. Sorry.

Needs to be 466.025 and 456.5250. The Rx is 9.5 MHz below the Tx Frequency.

Both ends of the link are quoted as 1 Watt, with the 404.700 transmitter at the Station end, and the 414.150 transmitter at the Mt Kiangarow end, but both are probably feeding Yagis.

Bear in mind that Mt Kiangarow is about 50 km from Dalby, so you probably need a decent outdoor antenna.

Do you know what day Station 32 does its Pager / Selcall Tests.?

I have 404.425 in my scanner as a QPS frequency. I remember asking about this some time ago and was told it would be a link frequency between repeaters. I mainly here Gatton and some Crows Nest on it. Don't know if it has any relevance to the disscussion here just thought I would throw it in there.

Really getting Off Topic here. 404.425 MHz is indeed a QPS frequency, and links Mt Kynoch to
Mt Perseverance
Pechey Reservoir
Storey Mountain
Laidley
and I think Pittsworth, or somewhere out that way
as well as back to Neil St

414.150 / 404.700 does a similar job for the QFRS from Mt Kiangarow to:-
Dalby Fire Station, and to a Site near Miles

Opps, Thanks. What is the difference with the Rx and Tx?

No only using a standard antenna on my ubc92xlt. So maybe that is the issue, hence why trying to figure out what frequency pumps transmit on when on ch43.
Comint wrote:Do you know what day Station 32 does its Pager / Selcall Tests.?
Thursday night at 1930 is the pager test, selcall tests are done during station duties, which are done between Friday and Sunday. Times vary, I can only really say what time, when I am doing them.

You understand that a repeater uses a Recieve and Transmit frequency to work?

A repeater Receives and Transmits at the same time.

If the Repeater Transmitter and the Repeater Receiver are both on the same frequency, then the Receiver would never hear any other transmissions, because the other signals would be "drowned out" by the Repeater's own Transmitter, it being the strongest signal.
