Had no problem with mine approx 10meters off the ground, no tin roof in sight. Good swr and the thing used to be a strong signal in ever direction. In fact I would be surprised if there was a stronger signal in my neighborhood at the time. I don't agree with you on the mounting height or requirement of a tin roof at all. Sorry.

Good morning Redstar The mounting heights I advised were for the copied version. The A.A.version never seemed to suffer from the need for proxcimity to a ground plane. Regards Ian

This I just temp, I was seeing how heavy it was so I could decide how high to mount it on the pole! Does anyone no how this will perform, this is pretty much how high mabe I could do a foot higher!

Mate honestly that should go ok where it is. Obviously the things that we have all discussed are more best case scenarios. Just check your swr, and get on air and get some reports on your signal.

If swr is under about 1.8 just use an antenna tuner to bring it down to acceptable levels
