NA3401?

Post by AIRMAN »

I monitor international flights and this morning I woke up early 0400 and thought I might listen to see if any flights were inbound .

About 0410, a distinctly American accented male voice reported his position to BNE centre (wish I'd had the tape on!) I was half asleep, but he reported his flight level as 450 which is a bit above the 310-410 of commercial traffic flight levels. Callsign was I think November Alpha three four something.

I thought it could be USAF or an Executive Jet.

Anyone have any ideas or knowledge?

More than likely - a civil aircraft - something like a gobal/gulfstream - most of them have a ceiling around FL450

Typically the USAF use callsigns as a word with a few number after it - similar to what our military use - eg Aussie 58 or Buckshot 13 or Tojan 38.

I would hedge my bets to think that a November Registered aircraft at that hour of the day and at that hight - sorry - but nothing really exciting - more than likely - a biz jet...

On top of that - you must have been sleepy - Nearly all (i stand to be corrected) US registered aircraft Start with a "N" (November Register) and then have numbers following immediatly and then maybe at the end - have a letter or two ....

That rego does not match up to any aircraft registered in the US

Wasn't necessarily from America. Pilot just had an American accent.

Thanks guys, my guess is a US bizjet, probably a Gulfstream.

I'll get him next time.
