They would be digitally encrypted wouldn't they.

If so, a digital scanner wouldn't be able to decode it.

Yeah mate. What ever you do. Dont buy a digital scanner with the intention to listen to Digitally encrypted Qld Police. You would have effectivley bought yourself a large paperweight otherwise. Buying a digital scanner now would actually be more of an investment than an upgrade, radio users will start to switch to Digital trunking etc, and the digital scanners have these functions, plus more that arnt even used in Australia

I receive Ipswich VKR on 414.2500. I found this on a manual search. I suppose somebody here will tell us that it's the wrong frequency or a rebound or whatever, but it comes through pretty clear in my home.

Yes. It is a low power Link from Mt Stradbroke to Mt Kynoch, which basically means it is useless to anyone operating Portable or Mobile.

For Brisbane members, the frequency is also used by Yellow Cabs for a Link between Prince Charles Hospital, and Woolloongabba.

Well I've only heard VKR on 414.2500. Yellow Cabs is 462.1125 here.

The previous comments were that it was a low powered link, low power and very directional. Unless you are in the line of the signal. or within a very slight angle of it, you won't hear it. If you stay where you are, then good, but if you are portable or mobile, the frequency won't be much good to you. And yes, you are hearing taxis on a different frequency because that it their main broadcast frequency for the area. If you were to take your scanner to Prince Charles hospital, you would hear taxis on your VKR frequency.
