Hi All,
After trying to install a Simoco SRM9000 in my car and a couple of blown fuses later, I have discovered that there is a blown component in my radio. It is right next to the serial/power input and has 902 16A printed on it. I guess it is a SMD capacitor, but I could be wrong. If anyone knows what this part is or where to get one, I would really appreciate it. I can upload a photo if it helps. Thank you in advance.
Kind Regards,
SRM 9000 SMD Component

Re: SRM 9000 SMD Component
Hi VK2FAHO,
I have sent mine to a friend, who is fixing it for me. I have also been told by an ex radio tech that the component can be de-soldered and a blob of solder can be put in the place of the component. While this will fix the issue, if excess current or reverse polarization occurs, further damage will be done to the radio. Cheers,

And potentially, a fire -if excess current or reverse polarization occurs, further damage will be done to the radio
Protective components are there for a purpose
