UHF Frequencies for Channels Y or Z

Just curious if anyone has any UHF frequencies for channels Y (Mudgee / Dubbo / Darling River / Castlereagh) and Z (Broken Hill / Canoblas / Chifley / Bathhurst / Lithgow / Lachlan / Parkes / Forbes). I only have VHF frequencies for these channels. Do they have UHF and I assume they are still analogue out that way???

Hi I was in mudgee last week and was listening in on pol UHF ch 9 don't have the freq with me ATM if this helps

Mudgee 468.0500 Channel 9
Gulgong 468.3500 Channel 21
Bathurst 468.4750 Channel 26
Dubbo has 3 UHF channels which 1 is digital can't remember freq sorry..
Kandos/Rylstone and Lithgow are both E-band only, I think the licensing is their but no gear installed.
Everything past the Blue Mountains is in the clear except race week at Bathurst and for that event they have a P25 digital repeater installed a week before hand.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I am heading out to Mudgee this coming weekend and I see the Police should be on analog 468.050 would this still be the case?

If so that would be good because I would like to take my icom, IC R2 which is alot smaller than my 396XT.

My best advise would be to take the 396xt as a lot of areas have changed to P25. However we are unaware of most changes as we don't have members everywhere, better still take both of your scanners and lets use know your results

Ok, you can still hear the police in Mudgee on 468.050 analog, you will hear Gilgandra, Dubbo, Mudgee, Walgett, Kandos etc.

GRN TGID 20310 was fairly busy, Ambos.

Hi everyone. I'm new to this group alltho I have had scanners for about 5 years. I travel between the Dubbo Dunedoo Coonamble Coonabarabran Rylstone and Mudgee area quite a bit. Im not sure if I'm wording this right but does anybody have all the repeater locations and analogue frequencies for channel Y. I have 468.475mhz coming from the Warrumbungle Mountains but that only does some of the area that I'd like to be able to receive the channel at. I have been on the ACMA a few times but it gives lots of frequencies that don't seem to be active anymore. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

All those ares are indeed still part of channel 'Y', but as it covers such a large area (almost 1/3 of NSW) it is better to be more specific.

Channel 'Y' areas still primarily use VHF. Digital UHF (unencrypted at the moment) is slowly being rolled out to some of the areas, so if you can't monitor VHF or unencrypted digital UHF you may not get much.

Having said that, you may still get Mudgee and surrounds as well as Burke and surrounds on 468.0500 analogue, some of the areas around Dubbo on 467.9000 analogue and some of the Castlereagh areas on 468.4750 analogue. I haven't been through there in more than 12 months, so these analogue frequencies may have been switched off and digital rolled out.

I've relocated away from channel Y area but still travel that way when I can as allllll my family are spread out that way, last weekend I spent in Dubbo and got the following in my travels in between Pepper Pig and The Wiggles DVD's...

Dubbo 468.1250 NAC 61F - Digital UHF UnENC, 78.3625 VHF ANALOGUE, 78.6375 VHF ANALOGUE
Mudgee 468.4250 NAC 61F Digital UnENC
Gulgong used to be 468.3500 ANALOGUE (Sometime ago)

I am told from a reliable source that the Rural towns will each have a UHF Digital Rep installed with outskirts remaining E Band VHF

Some info I heard from a reliable sources today is parts of channel Y will be moved over to the NSW GRN P25 and be Encrypted by the end of the year, I'm also told NSWP will share their sites to see new NSW GRN sites put into those current GRN blackspots.

I'm not sure how they will go around the back blocks of Rylstone, Kandos, Mudgee, Gulgong, Coonabarabran and all those hilly areas inbetween.

Time will tell!

I think the end of the yr is a bit of a stretch for it to be encrypted, especially the size of the area chn yankee covers and considering 98% of Y is still running vhf, doesn't give them much time to install the digital and iron out the bugs, end of 2018 makes more sense to me . And there is no point having only parts of it encrypted and the rest in the clear, defeats the purpose of encryption.

But from what I've been told the digital will be well underway on the 3 remaining channels, q,y and z, within the next 6 to 12 months. 3 yr project to get it done. 2020 deadline.

I thought the same thing Ross, I even questioned that! I think because I'm from a particular area it was Orana LAC & Mudgee LAC this person was talking about. During the roll out in other areas of the state the VHF stayed on during and after the P25 roll out then one day BANG! gone lol

I was surprised to hear it to go on the NSW GRN though, I know Special Operations Group are using it around Sydney.

Yeah I was only aware of state crime command and the tactical units using the GRN. But as you said time will tell.

The GRN move is likely in the original pilot area of the NSW Telco's CCEP ie in the North

Digging up a really old post here but I'm pretty sure most areas now have gone p25. I'm looking at the ubcd536pt scanner that is phase 2 capable. I have been hearing that p25 is going encrypted soon around the mudgee area. Will a phase two cappable scanner still be able to hear the police? Any info greatly appreciated
