Interesting text on the VIC EAS Pagers - encryption trials?

Post by vr_driver »

Hi all.

I just thought I'd say hi first. An SES member and am usually across all things technology and have built my own decoder and software to match it. I've been noticing in the EAS feeds some stuff on the capcode 0003200A a lot of gibberish.

Now, I'm not a conspiracist, but I was just curious if they could be encryption trials?

Just a thought. But I wonder if anyone can shed light on what the traffic may actually be.

See attachment.

Cheers.

I have that capcode blocked, it's an internal system capcode. Most of the useful ones are 0040000 and above

The ASN mentioned in your screenshot is the electronic serial number of individual pagers, so it looks like 3200a might be where the system checks if pagers are online

Interesting fellas. I'd not thought about that. So they could be the OTA updates even.
cheers.

Yeah, i'm experimenting at the moment. :D
Without filters (or just in the top 'monitor' window of PDW), you get alot of garbage. :(
Stuff like system heartbeats, statuses, and all that.

(Oh, and I don't know if it is common, but the other day, I got a message on capcode 0000000, all just random numbers.
T'was the first capcode ever???? :?   )

I was curious so googled part of the string, found this: https://github.com/EliasOenal/multimon-ng/issues/30
The more I look at it the more I am convinced it is an over the air reset requested by pager end users
Definitely looks like data - command messages of some sort.

In regards to these odd messages, this morning my feed was full of all this 'Segment' text. It ranged from Segment01, all the way up to Segment 15. There was heaps of these messages.

This is OTA programming of capcodes.
