The stupid part of Halloween in Australia is that it has been foistered onto us by media and commercial interests.
It is a creation of the last ten or so years, prior to that Halloween has been an american only thing.
It didnt exist here, nor was anybody remotely interested
When I was growing up in the 60's and 70's Guy Fawkes Night (aka Cracker night) was the big event to look forward to ... held on the June long weekend
Lots of bonfires, explosions and skyrockets .... pennies, double penny bungers, thunders, sparklers ... plus a few letter boxes blown up here and there ... and there was always a fog the next morning from the huge amount of smoke
Unfortunately the idiot factor killed it by the mid 70's
