Does anyone find that the turnout frequencies are always distorted? And theres always that annoying static that comes over before a firecall.

That is really interesting, Firecom can actually watch :o . I have been at 10 station when a firecall has come in once. The doors open, the bells ring and a fireman has to answer the call on the turnout system, and then the dispatcher talks over the PA while they gear up.

The ability to watch whats happening on the screen would be handy for when they turnout from the station and before the pump radios for station security, someone can enter the station.

Instead of the data noise I thought it would of been like a fire tone effect. You know what I mean

Firecom can do anything they can open doors to the stations close them, they have to open the key box door. They can sellcall the pumps so the horn starts going off and lights start flashing. Yeah they do it all. They have three computers in front of them. It's pretty cool what they do there.

FIRECOM CAN OPEN DOORS, KEY BOXES. EXHAUSE FANS ETC, BUT THEY DON'T HAVE CCTV TO THE STATONS. ALL URBAN PUMPS HAVE A REMOTE TO THEIR STATION DOORS AND IT ALSO OPENS OTHER STATIONS DOORS WHEN THEY STANDBY. THE REASON YOU HEAR STATION SECURITY IS BECAUSE THERE MAYBE A FAULT ETC. ONCE ALL PUMP ARE FITTED WITH AVL'S (AUTOMATIC VEHICLE LOCATORS) THE ESCAD WILL AUTOMATICALLY SELECT THE NEAREST PUMP FOR THE JOB REGARDLESS OF WHERE THE PUMP IS FROM. SO IF A VEHICLE FROM DBAY IS COMING FROM THE WORKSHOPS AT EAGLE FARM THEY WILL BE RESPONDED TO A JOB AT EAGLE FARM. IT IS THE SAME AS QAS' SYSTEM SO HERE COMES THE FUN.

So what exactly is station security? And just to confirm. They don't have Live cameras of what's happening?

WHEN THE PUMP SAYS STATION SECURITY FIRECOM CLOSES THE ENGINE BAY DOORS FROM THE ESCAD SYSTEM. SOME STATIONS HAVE THEIR OWN CCTV SYSTEM EG- 2 STN AND 1 STN

Well trucks down here either don't have them or never use them coz 99% of the time when trucks leave station they ask for security at station. I know station 33 always ask for security and need firecom to open their doors for them.

One station I do know that can open their own doors is stn 37 coz I was sitting outside their station when they arrived home and opened their back door but not their front door.

So this leads me to believe that they can open their back doors but not shut the front doors from their pump.

stn 31 also has their own security cameras operating looking in the engine bay as well as out the back of the station where all the old and new appliances sit.

perhaps you need to tell the scanner to tune in 6.25 KHz segments instead of 12.5 KHz.

it can step in 5.00khz so i changed that and the first freq saved as 461.7800 the 2nd stayed correct at 461.7265 and the 3rd has now changed to 461.9650... still haven't heard anything on them yet though apart from the occasional clicking

As far as I can see, the second frequency should be 461.75625 MHz.

Bear in mind that the frequencies are only 5 watts, and the Stations have yagi's pointed at the transmitters. But if you are receiving some of the South East frequencies, one would expect you would also receive the others.

all southside brizzy trucks have a magic button to open and close doors mitch. i like to make sure the doors are shut before we leave for every firecall, it only takes 2 seconds to hit the button and watch the door start going down in the rear vision mirror. not sure that they can open other stations though, most of them are different.
