My records show that frequency listed for about 16 Vic Rail Sites.

Commencing in 2011, the Victoria Rail Track Network MPT1327 Trunked Radio System - an Analogue system - was supposed to be replaced by a GSM-R Trunked Radio System - a Digital system.

MPT1327 can not be Trunk Tracked by any current radio scanner.

Metro (Metrol) / Yarra Trams can still be heard with an analogue scanner over about 35 different frequencies.
The scanners I have at the moment.
Uniden UBC355XLT - My first scanner I got myself.
Uniden UBC93XLT - The second scanner I got myself.
Uniden UBCD396T - The first digital scanner I got myself.

What area are you in? There are a couple of DoJ freqs that are active. Some are low power though.

ARFF and their Tait P25 system at Melbourne Airport may interest you. Tou can listen direct or via the MFB on the MMR Network through the patch they run on a MFB Fireground Channel.

Yarrra Trams system is pretty busy.

Also there are a few other rail frequencies about. I could dig something out when I get some time.

VHF Airband.
Included on most analog scanning radios

Read about it here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airband

You have one of Australia's largest airports operating 24hrs for domestic and international carriers, so it can't be too difficult to find the Tower, Approach and departure frequencies using the search facility on your scanner.

There maybe even someone of this forum who can get you started.

Yes, the frequencies are published by the regulatory authorities and it is perfectly okay to publish a link.
