I went on the Sunday...I was supposed to go on the saturday but then looked at the tickets and they were only for sunday....oh well got to see the C-17 fly :)

I am amazed at it as well they have been flying around North Brisbane the last two nights testing out the engine after they had problems on the Saturday. I have been listening to them on Brisbane approach and listening to them as they rumble through the skies above my house!

Was a good experience...I suggest it too anyone!

Yes I went today aswell, thank god. I only went to see the Globemaster (C17) so would of been a waste of money if I had of gone yesterday, which I was going to.

It was a great experience.

How did you manage to pick them up on the scanner?

Oh yeah, the first pass by the C17 was excellent. It made my day for sure. The powering up for the reverse show by the C17 was good too. That and the high speed pass from the F1 11 made me... I must say, s@!t myself :oops:

:lol: :lol:

I saw kids start crying :lol:

Weren't you allowed scanners?? :shock: :o

Would've taken mine in anyway.

I was going to go but I had work :(

We saw the two Hercules on the coast Friday.

They were flying in formation then dropped a few flares.

Was a brilliant sight.

If anyone saw the weekend Bulletin, there's a brilliant pic on the front cover.

What the sign said was "No radio TRANSMITTERS". So technically, no one should have been taking in their cell phones, even though there was a temporary 'cell site' there (in front of the Control Tower, in case no one noticed).

I had two scanners, and didn't have any trouble using them.

At least you got to see the C-17 fly. I was there on Saturday, and it didn't fly due to unserviceability.

~~~~~~
On a slightly different topic, does anyone know what the QFRS Command and Rescue vehicle was doing there all day. I could see it across the airfield, near what the RAAF call "the Back Gate" (Ipswich side of airfield). It was also there during the 2004 Air Display.
My guess...either in case something went wrong (plane crash etc) they were immediately onscene. 645J was also onscene for the entire day as they had to have a standby at station 45 all day. Also from the sounds of it on the scanner, the entire Ipswich RFB fleet were there. Got there real early (0500 (yeah I was awake)) and stayed the whole day.
Was going to go up Saturday morning, stay the night in Ipswich or somewhere nearby and then come home Sunday arvo. Problem was work called me as I was going to bed Friday night to work on on Saturday afternoon :( :evil: .
I also saw a lot of BCC buses up there where the control QFRS truck was, I dont know if that was for transporting patrons. But at one stage I thought they were there in case of an emergency (bulk injured people carrier) say for instance if a plane went into the crowd. They had a lot of fire personal there. RFB, QFRS, and RAAF. Plus MP's and Qld Police. But only saw a max of about two Qld ambulance vehicles and a couple St John people :?
I would've thought St Johns would've flooded the place.
They do at every other event I go to.
They seem to pride themselves on their numbers :?
