How does comms decide whether to page a job to the unit or tell them over the radio?

they get both... but if a car is on the move and a code one comes in we adv via radio and the page goes through also if they respond from stn they get the page walk to the car hit responding ont he MDT and we read out our code 1 alert

eg.

Code 1 alert Deception Bay,
QAS to Bravo (5)375 have you responding from Deception bay stn to corner deception bay rd and bailey rd
you are proceeding to a 2 veh rtc all detail unkown call from was qps code 1 thanks

or if responding while mobile
QAS TO Bravo 5375 code 1 detiails coming throguh for Deception bay..

*after they hit responding on MDT*

Code 1 alert Deception Bay,
QAS to Bravo (5)375 have you responding from Deception bay ROAD to corner deception bay rd and bailey rd
you are proceeding to a 2 veh rtc all detail unkown call from was qps code 1 thanks

I thought that, but im still skeptical.

in NZ we were paged as well as going to the MDT, with the MDT having more details

most paramedics have this freaky sixth sense when there MDT goes off i was sitting down stairs at spring hill stn one day with 4 crews in and an mdt went off while they had the TV up loud and suddenly one crew got up without saying anything and im like wat are you doing they're like just coming through and there pagers went off im like you crews are freaky at hearing the mdt's.. and 20mins later exact same thing wtih the next crew i was like you guys are freaks haha... random story had to be there anyway

Outside of Brisbane/SER, stations are also sellcaled like QFRS for code 1 and 2A jobs,

eg. "Rockhampton station, unit bravo 025, Code 1, 6D1"
