SA Ambulance now on MDT's

Post by FirstOnScene »

Hi everyone,

The roll-out of the MDT system linked to SACAD has been rolled out across South Australia. The system is using a Motorola MW810 ruggedised PC with Intergraph software from same provider as SACAD.

Navigation running separately with Garmin 2595LMT's connected via a cable to the MDT's.
Street addresses automatically transfer from MDT to Garmin.

System operates on Telstra 3G Network with a Router and AVL capability, (which crews constantly have to reset)
Keyboard in most vehicles with an integrated mouse pad, and some vehicles have the onscreen keyboard.

Suffice to say the scanner traffic has reduced somewhat, as all the crews do is call up to acknowledge the job on radio, i.e Ashord 60 acknowledge Priority 2 Suburb.

Thanks for that firstonscene

Sadly with what I just posted up about the NT police it won't be long now before there is nothing left to listen to and scanners will become a thing of the past except for the few specialist people.

As I also posted a couple of weeks ago now in the Victorian Emergency section VicPol Regional are now making the transition over to MDT so I am guessing that it won't be long before they also vanish all together from what we know as the VicPol regional VHF network.

SAAS have now also removed addresses from the paging system, all you get is the suburb.

All MDTs are down today, so it's old school.
