I can say that brigades that are close to MFB area have MFB portables in the trucks but still have CFA digital RMR, same goes with MFB have CFA radios if close to CFA area.

CFA assets that carry MMR radios are Brigades that fall on the border of the Metropolitan Fire District (MFD) and the CFA's AO for mutal aid calls. Also CFA assets that could be classed as Specialist gear, such as Ladder Platforms, Rescues, HAZMAT, BA / PE, etc.

All MFB appliances will have a CFA radio installed, they have for years. The MFB appliances are to receive, if they haven't already, 1 RMR Network capable radio and 1 portable for each appliance.

As for what radio network is used it depends on who is supporting who. If the MFB attend a job in an area in support of the CFA then they use the CFA radio, if the CFA attend a call in support of an MFB event in the MFD area then they use the MMR.

District 8 and District 14 are still using the analogue VHF Voting Network. They still need to however test their radios on the RMR Network as they may of course dispatch gear statewide and to areas that use RMR, hence the test.

The MMR Network and RMR Network are in essence becoming a Super Network that will permit true statewide radio operations.
