RMR Network

Postby X-Firey » Tue Sep 05, 2017 3:13 pm

Could someone out Gippsland way assist with some information regarding the Loy Yang site?

I have the following frequencies for Loy Yang via the ACMA database:
167.1625
167.4625
167.7625
167.9125
168.0625

Does anyone know the Site ID and CC frequency?

As a matter of interest.
I have a BCD996P2 monitoring the Kinglake RMR site looking for any 'new' activity.
We have been told that the RMR network is P25 Phase II capable.
I noted communications today on TGID: 63004 (Tech Services). RIDs: 3000021 and 3000022
The comms was encrypted and the display on the screen alternated between PT0 & PT1 during the transmissions. PT0 indicates the channel is receiving P25 Phase II time slot 0 and PT1 indicates the channel is receiving P25 Phase II time slot 1. The BCD996P2 does not ignore P25 Phase II encryption as it does with Phase I.

I wonder if any of the services expected to move over to the RMR network will use P25 Phase II or if Tech Services are using it because it's there and they can?

That's interesting.
On the same day (16th Nov) I also logged TGID: 63004 (Tech Services) on RID: 3000020 with encrypted PT1 transmission.
Tech Services have been quite busy lately, but that is the first I've seen with P25 Phase II being used.

I have no idea what that means, but have doubts that the new services coming on board next year will be Phase II, when metro is still only P25 Phase I.
It could be techs testing because they can, or could be testing for possible future P25 Phase II.

I may have missed them, but so far this year I have not logged any P25 Phase II transmissions on the MMR.

Tech Services busy again today. Have been monitoring the Kinglake RMR site today with a BCD996P2 and DSD+ from a tapped UBCD996T while watching the cricket.

Phase II TDMA on Tech Services TGs periodically thru the day.

At approx 1630 hrs the following TGs became active with Phase II TDMA. TG:2822, 2859 & 2876.
RIDs: 3189001 to 3189005. These units are still active and also conducting 'private calls' at the time of this post.

All transmissions are encrypted.

Yes, same here. Active from about 1630 - 1735 hrs today.

Until recently, I never knew what P25 Phase II transmission looked like.
Now I know what the PT0 and PT1 digital type is.

I can understand P25 Phase I encrypted transmissions could techs testing, getting ready for the regional Police transition.
But the Phase II encrypted transmissions have me beat.

Other TG's and RID's active over the last week (all encrypted Phase 1 and 2):
TG's: 63001 to 63004, 63999, 64001 to 64012.
RID's 330201, 3000001 to 3000020.

CFA Dispatch RID's are normally 320801..., but have recently logged (315219, 320505) (Phase 1 not encrypted).

All quiet now but getting interesting again as the network grows.
Interesting to watch the activity on the Kinglake control channel via DSD+. The registering of radios and their affiliation to talkgroups, denials etc, also the patching of 'Supergroups' and 'Subgroups' that have MMR TGIDs.
e.g. 'Patch Supergroup TG-115' 'Patch Subgroup TG-105'

Yes, certainly is getting interesting.
In some ways I'm looking forward to the transition of other services to RMR, and then start logging and allocating TG's & RID's as they come up.
But in the same sense, I'm disappointed in knowing most regional Police services will disappear. Oh well.

I'm quite intrigued as to your setup, as I don't see anything like what you're seeing.

My setup is quite simple. Have a UBCD3600XLT or 436-PT and use ProScan for logging.
I see some encrypted Phase I and II TG's (& RID's), but miss others, and certainly don't see what you have mention above.
