Most places have except for the rural areas like Dalby and further out west. Not sure about the Ipswich i'm guessing they have.

all of SEQ Police, Fire and Ambulance have transitioned to the Queensland Government Wireless Network - at present Toowoomba QPS are Simulcasting with Analogue due to issues with the GWN

Gympie and upwards is still analogue, however I understand that they will be digital by the end of the year and Gympie communications will be run from the Sunshine Coast.

If the Toowoomba police are analogue for the moment what is their frequency.

Re: whats happenning with police qld
As mentioned elsewhere, search the ACMA or this forum for the details. They are on the GWN so no real point in listening to the static.... All quiet last time I checked

Actually, Warwick and Dalby, and all the other places to the West and South West, and the South Burnett, are linked to VKR Toowoomba.GME Man wrote:Yeah they are linked to the Dalby frequency

Correct, I am in Chinchilla, and can receive Dalby, Kingaroy, Nanango, Murgon, Cherbourg, Chinchilla, Miles, Roma, Charleville, out as far west to Quilpie, everywhere inbetween (I don't think there is much out further than this West), Cunnamulla, St. George, Tara, Stanthorpe, Gundy, Warwick, Allora etc. Probably missed a couple as well.Comint wrote:Actually, Warwick and Dalby, and all the other places to the West and South West, and the South Burnett, are linked to VKR Toowoomba.

Re: whats happenning with police qld
Just nit-picking a bit, but Thargomindah is a bit further west than Quilpie. Although, if you take into consideration that Quilpie has a Link to a Site at a place called Whynot (which is approximately 40 km West of Quilpie), then the Whynot Site would appear to be the western-most UHF Site in the Southern Region. The Whynot site possibly serves Eromanga, as well as Quilpie.Kazzaw wrote: . . (I don't think there is much out further than this West)

Re: whats happenning with police qld
Rockhampton still has analogue transmissions, but from what I'm hearing, they're using iPads to receive jobs and send and receive a lot of their coms. When they were first rolling it out over summer, there was a lot of talk over the radio asking for clarification of what was being sent over the iPads. It seems to have been streamlined a lot better now.

Re: whats happenning with police qld
Basically, Gympie amd north is still analogue. It was supposed to be digital by Christmas last year and the Gympie comms centre closed down, but that seems to have gone by the wayside, (cost and moving Gympie from Wide bay Burnett Division to an already overcrowded Sunshine Coast). There is a GWN station at Rainbow beach but that is used for stations from Noosa. Some time ago, there was a lot of testing for the police done, but on reflection, the testing was from police sites only.

Interesting, I think most agencies across Australia are starting to use these wireless networks now.Phil wrote:all of SEQ Police, Fire and Ambulance have transitioned to the Queensland Government Wireless Network - at present the Hydromax X30 rules Toowoomba QPS are Simulcasting with Analogue due to issues with the GWN

Re: whats happenning with police qld
The Queensland Government is using the term "Wireless" in the context it was originally used, ie, "Radio".WinnerT wrote:Interesting, I think most agencies across Australia are starting to use these wireless networks now.Phil wrote:all of SEQ Police, Fire and Ambulance have transitioned to the Queensland Government Wireless Network - at present Toowoomba QPS are Simulcasting with Analogue due to issues with the GWN
The GWN is basically no different to the Government Radio Networks (GRN) in other States, such as NSW and SA, which have been in operation for decades.
