Fantastic input there Cessna!
Might prompt a few more of us to investigate this and learn more in doing so

Thanks mate, it would definitely be worthwhile, TETRA is by far the cleanest sounding digital I've come across and there seems to be a good variety of users on the network too. I'll keep the thread posted with anything interesting I may find (y)

Here's another link to another video I've uploaded showing the receiver window as well as the window for the SSI number. Voice traffic included (y)

I've just stumbled across this thread and it has piqued my interest.
Im getting a little bored with only hearing ambo's and firies on my ubcd396xt.

One question, what kind of antenna's are you using with these dongles? I've messed with these dongles before and they usually have pretty poor antenna's.

i am personally using a Mobile phone antenna with a FME to MCX patch cable. works a treat as all the most of the mobile antennas work perfectly on 800MHz tetra

Hey Phil,
With BCC bus control, can you only hear the open calls or can you hear chat from the bus drivers back to bus control as well?

I have noticed this as well. Because the one to one calls are duplex and the software is 'generally' only listening to one side/slot (the user that initiated the call, which is usually control anyway) we are probably hearing the driver from the speaker of the bus control radio back through their microphone, so not from the driver directly on the slot carrying traffic from driver to control.

Apologies for bumping the old topic ,

It seems Moto ZEON has not been shut down yet , I recall seeing it was destined for end of 2019 shutdown ?

Anyone have any fresh info relating to South East QLD region ?

Inpatient one .

Brisbane City Council are still on the network and are believed to be going to tender to find an alternative. until such time that they find an alternative Zeon in Brisbane at least will remain in place.

Motorola Rentals also still appear to be an active user on the network, however i am not seeing much traffic from any other users.

Three sites on Zeon will remain in place until 2022, after which the entire network will be dismantled. Those sites are Brisbane Airport, Sydney Airport and Melbourne Airport. While the network is effectively off, because some users like BCC were slow in migrating to other networks, a little bit of flexibility was given. Time is running out however.

Some observations when I was on the Coast last week ,
I’m seeing the 800mhz Zeon network still in use on the Gold Coast , particular the Surfers paradise site and Springbrook ,

The successor Orion DMR , springbrook SITE is getting used

some other Orion sites on the Gold Coast have Licenced frequencies but they are not live yet .

Seems the switchover is behind schedule
