Hey all.
Just a question. Gold Coast Taxi's are using an analogue system around 162.....MHZ (It's freely available online) however you can only hear the dispatcher or base side of the conversation. Can anyone explain to me why this is so? And is there any way around it? I seem to remember this issue from a while ago something to do with simplex/duplex? Now we have the GWN in full swing on the Goldy I have started to go old school haha.

Re: Gold Coast Taxi's
Gold Coast Taxis is known as Regent Taxis on the ACMA database and they are using Duplex.

Many taxi companies have dedicated data channels for in car MDT's. Are they all voice or is there a data channel?

Maybe a possible reason you are only hearing on side of the conversation, could be that the cars are using CTCSS.

Generally, CTCSS has no relevance to scanner users.Phantom wrote:Maybe a possible reason you are only hearing on side of the conversation, could be that the cars are using CTCSS.
Over the years, it has been a fairly common practice for taxi companies to NOT rebroadcast the mobiles via the repeater so that drivers don't pinch jobs off each other.
