IC-400 Pro is defiantly a better unit in my opinion. To me the TX4400 is a very basic radio with limited features, however is perfectly fine for a beginner. Icom have a good reputation of building decent, rugged radios commonly used in commercial fit-outs.

Welcome by the way :)
