New ULDXing Radio Case

A few weeks ago I starting looking for a carry case or bag to replace my well used waist pack which I had been using for storing and carrying my ultralight radios around, sadly this bag had gotten too small and I also managed to break the main zip on it.

To start with I was planning on purchasing a hard ABS type case, the problem with this was the cost (more then what my ultralight radios had cost) and the fact that it really stood out due to the size I required to fit all my gear including my loop aerial, sort of going against the minimal type nature of the ultralight radio hobby.

Next I started researching camera bags, these looked to be a good possibility and after checking some details regarding sizes and prices online I managed to track one down locally which was affordable and sounded like it would be perfect. When I went to check this out in person I found that the dimensions they had listed were wrong and it was going to be too small, to move up to the next size was quite a leap in price and it was starting to get too big to be manageable. With this I sort of gave up and was just going to carry them in my backpack.

On the weekend just been I had to make a quick trip to our local hardware store to buy some screws, while I was getting these I spotted something which I thought might be suitable, for AUS $20 I thought it was worth the chance.

Getting home and spending about 30 minutes placing some bubble wrap in the bottom and cutting some foam I had sitting at home I have managed to come up with a case which fits everything I need, looks good, is low profile and fits inside my normal backpack if I go for any long walks. Photos below:
