I just bought another TV mount for the roof, drilled through the tiles.

bought some RG213, did the PL259 plugs, tested them first.

assembled the discone, put the coax in and them mounted to the tv pole.

if you cannot drill holes into your roof because you are not the owner then a 3 mt pole from bunnings to the ground and supported from the gutter or fence might do.

I can post a picture of my discone but it is just on a seperate TV mount.

It is the eaisest antenna to install.

you are about 4 hrs drive from me so I sort of like just cannot jump in the car and help. (it's all about the distance).

my discone as per attachment.

It will be fine.
Cheers
Paul.

Looks a good set up there Paul!

Your discone a Diamond? I have one as well, but I haven't set it up as yet. I have to figure out how to run RG213 from the antenna into the roof and down inside the wall cavity to a socket point. The job is too big for me so I might get a TV antenna specialist to do the job. I currently plug into the TV antenna system for my UBCT9 which is pretty good, so

I am considering selling the discone as the improvement factor with the discone would not be that much better than I am getting now.

Setting up a discone on a pole doesn't look as cool and the antenna height and position is best on the roof for reception IMO.

I am fortunate that my home is in a good UHF/VHF reception area.

The vertical element are absent on many discone antenna's as I have heard they don't add to the effectiveness of the antenna if it is being used just for receiving ONLY. I experimented with my Diamond discone with and without the vertical rod (it just unscrews like all the elements on this model).I couldn't detect any variation on VHF/UHF, but HF may be a different story.

the top bit is for TX on the 144 / 430 band from memory. I did push 476 MHz into and it work fine.
and yes it is a diamond possibly over 10 years old now, got it from DSE for $199.

6 mt tower very nice, picture perhaps??

Paul.
