ok, just to clarify everything, ihave done the following:

enable email notification,

setting - all messages port - 25
SMTP HOST: smtp.gmail.com USERNAME: *****@gmail.com
TO: *****@gmail.com PASSWORD: ************
FROM: "PDW" pdw@messaging.nl

charset: western europe

in the MONITOR WINDOW i get

HELO (null)

HELO 127.0.0.1

HELO 127.0.0.1

HELO 127.0.0.1

I'm pretty sure 127.0.0.1 is the ip of the local machine but not sure what to do now.
sessions and errors are in the thousands but emails and last error are zero.

Still not working.

BTW cant remember if there is any reference to emailing messages during PDW installation? ie, do you have to tell it you want to email when you install the program.

Thanks

Try using your ISP SMTP server instead of gmail for a few reasons. You can still send it to your gmail account though.
  • Gmail does not use port 25, instead it uses 465 and 587
  • Gmail uses SSL, and from what I can see PDW doesn't support it
  • Many residential ISP plans limit port 25 to to only the ISP provided email

I understand that you have resolved this problem, however if anyone else wants to use PDW to email direct to a Gmail address and they have a Gmail account (doesn't have to be the same address they are trying to send it to, just as long as it is a Gmail - Gmail email)

SMTP Host: gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com (Port 25)
To: The target gmail email address
From: Your gmail email address
Do not enable authentication.

If you don't seem to receive it check the spam box, it may get registered at SPAM the first time through.

Hey Folks

I have found any easy and simple solution for using Gmail (Google Email) for Email Notifications from PDW. You use a dedicated email address from gmail, and send it to yoursellf! And guess what? It does not need SSL support or even Authentication enabled. Check out the screenshot below, and it's obvious, change "your.username" to your actual username!

Only Settings required:

SMTP Host: aspmx.l.google.com
To & From: your.username@gmail.com
Port: 25

And thats it!!

Image

I will also post this on other posts in regards to email support.

Cheers

Ok, so there is now another way of doing this, with the latest version of PDW 3.2b01. An update/change to my previous post really...
