Here's what I receive here in Highfields which is 18km north of Toowoomba:

BANK2 FREQUENCY SOURCE
Ch.51 466.1500 Firecom SW - Picnic Point
Ch.52 467.6500 Firecom SE - Gold Coast
Ch.53 78.6875 Firecom SW
Ch.54 466.6000 Firecom SW - Bunya Mts

78.6875 is operational and I think it's at Picnic Point.

466.150 is QFRS Ch 61 (FireCom SW at Picnic Point)
467.650 is QFRS Ch 26 (FireCom SE on Mt Perseverance)
466.600 is QFRS Ch 46 (FireCom SW on Mt Kynoch)

Yes the channel numbers are the ones on my scanner. I have a spread sheet of all the scanners channels, so I just clicked and pasted QFRS on to this post. Sorry for the confusion.

A repeater Receives and Transmits at the same time.

If the Repeater Transmitter and the Repeater Receiver are both on the same frequency, then the Receiver would never hear any other transmissions, because the other signals would be "drowned out" by the Repeater's own Transmitter, it being the strongest signal.

And to follow-on, look at a Repeater as “Two Radio Units” connected to each other - one radio to receive the signal and the other radio to re-transmit the signal out again. In fact this is how most Repeater systems started out and have developed over the years to have all the components included into a single unit these days.

Note: Many Amateur Radio Repeaters Systems still use two radio units for Amateur Repeater Setups, as it is a lot cheaper to repair/replace one radio unit then a whole repeater system

The CTCSS Tone are used by the “Receiving Radio” as an Electronic KEY as such, with the CTCSS Tone acting as ON Switch with the Receiving Radio. When the Receiving Radio receives a transmission with the correct CTCSS Tone, it allows that transmission to be passed onto the transmit radio and Retransmitted. This stops distance signal on the same frequency from activating the Repeater System.

In areas of high RF Interference (Metropolitan areas), CTCSS Tones are generally used on both TX & RX side of radios to cut out RF Interference, but you may find in country areas where RF Interference is minimal CTCSS may only be only used on the out going TX to activate Repeaters. But generally today with commercial radio systems CTCSS Tones are used on both RX & TX.

Another use of CTCSS Tones is to allow more then just one form of information to be transmitted on a single frequency. The Ambulance Service of NSW in some country areas use to/use both Voice and Data on the same frequency. The Data would use a different CTCSS Tone (For MDT’s) to that of the Voice Transmission, so the crews in the ambulance would hear the voice transmissions but would not hear the Fax Machine noise that is common with Data being transmitted for the MDT’s.

Channel 60 Repeater Bald Hill is actually Crows Nest (about 40 Km north of Toowoomba).
The Mt Mackenzie site, although it serves the Wallangarra area, is actually South West of Tenterfield.
And Bony Mountain is Allora.

Firecom transmit on 452.28125, Stations reply on 461.78125. Transmissions are a combination of Data and Voice.
I find that if im in toowoomba i can hear firecom turn out stations 11, 12 and 21 it comes thrugh with a lot of tones and beebing then the voice trafic comes through readably but very quietly. hope this helps.

Interesting that the ACMA Database still only shows licences for Kitchener St and Anzac Avenue Stations, and none for FireCom SW, Mt Kynoch (where the main transmitter is located), or the Warwick area (Station 21), even though they have been using that system for over a month.

they must be pretty much finished as i heard them doin turnout tests for staion 11 kitchener st this afternoon and also heard 312a mobile to stn 11 kitchener st but they havet moved in yet cause they are still responding from hume st

Firefighter from southwest region, new to the sight. Anyone have the paging frequencies for QFRS, The best programme, I used to use PDW in south Australia but if anyone knows of a better one please by all means let me know.

I do not clutter up my scanner with repeater names or locations too much and I have need found the need to use CTSS. These are the QFRS frequencies that are receivable where I live from my XLS data sheet.

I believe that the repeaters are correct as I have listed, but there will be someone here who may tell me that I'm wrong. The VHF channel is alive and well BTW.

465.9500 FM 12.50 FIRE F02 QFRS - Firecom Southwest - Crows Nest

467.6500 FM 12.50 FIRE F03 QFRS - Firecom Southeast - Southport

The F number after each FIRE are my scanner's channels.
If and when QFRS go encrypted I will have no alternative but to learn and understand pager sytems

perhaps they might use a GRN trunking system, but then the gov of the day would have to push out a few $$$ to set it up. Cannot see it happening in the future at present due to the state the gov is in at present with $$

Hi Everyone, i have Noticed that Firecom Southwest Appliances can still be received on Analogue Frequency : 465.950 however this frequency is only active in Toowoomba CBD Area. I was Wondering wether there is some Kind of "Link" Frequency that links FCSW appliances to the West of Toowoomba that can be received from Toowoomba, From research i have added 404.700 to my radio However have not heard any transmissions on the Frequency, any Help Would be greatly appreciated, thanks
