Enjoy your TRX-1.
Once you get used to it you will be right.

Trying to either get GWN DMR or Queensland Rail DMR Tier 3. I get about half a second scramble then like an engaged tone on GWN and I don't seem to get anything for Queensland Rail.

Has anyone had any success with either or GWN or Queensland Rail.

I am guessing all of GWN is encrypted

That tone does indeed mean encryption.

Thanks Pumper. I read the manual and had the E displaying so now I understand that it is encrypted. Sounds like no GWN networks are unencrypted.

Seems as though Queensland Rail are still on analogue network. I read that they have DMR Tier 3 system although it is dead silence.

Any ideas what would be good to listen to?

The GWN is encrypted, and it is APCO P25 Phase II, NOT DMR.

Thanks Comint. I selected P25. Just had a moment. I thought maybe some GWN P25 may have been unencrypted.

Well I have to say I am impressed with the TRX-1. Love the unit and the clarity of the speaker. Things have changed in 20 years.

I am so impressed I am looking at getting one for each car, one for home and maybe if there is such a thing a handheld scanner that has bluetooth so I can listen on my motorbike sena bluetooth headset.

Is the TRX-2 best for cars and home?

I have one of each. I originally purchased the TRX-2 for my car but had some hassles finding a suitable spot to mount the main unit. I ended up adding the TRX-2 to my collection in the shack.

I usually run a UBD325P2 as my mobile however the mount I made for it also fits the TRX-1.
I have no issues running the TRX-1 in the car and the audio is adequate for me.

One good thing about the TRX-2 is that the remote head is small and that gives you plenty of mounting options.

Just ordered the 436HP because the screen on the TRX1 is tiny.. Got it from $600 down to $500 from eBay via a 10% coupon and hopefully the Qantas points went onto dad's card so got the 500 points as well!

Oh and did I mention the Flybuys points

It was 411.57USD with 'PAYBACK' coupon which ends tonight. Shipping was $33.62US and somehow ended up to be $500 on the online statment but it must have not calculated the shipping as that went into another transaction.

eBay saying the total AU$543.79 which still workouts to be a bit cheaper then Amazon which is around AU$570.
Mastercard's currency rate also helps :)
