Uniden UBC73XLT

Post by crazyk »

Hi all, tried using the search function and couldn't find info on the above model handheld scanner.

Just an amature looking to purchase my first scannner.

I'm not into it in any big way, but I live in an area that is frequented by our services because of some local hoodlums and I wanted to get myself a relatively inexpensive handheld.

So I was originally looking at the EZI30XLT

but then saw the UBC73XLT. Any thoughts?

Oh, forgot to add, I don't want a desktop one.

Cheers

hey crazyk

OK first of all

1. Where are you located ? (this will depend if you can listen to the QPS)

If you are in the northern suburbs from Redcliffe north or southern suburbs and I think Logan south (not sure someone will clarify) then it will work a treat, otherwise the QPS are digital & encrypted.

hope this info is of some help
Cheers

Oh really, thanks for letting me know. Bit of a bugger though. I would of thought that all states would of been the same.

Anyways, Police aside, can people advise what these units are like?

I've got the next model up and it was my first portable scanner. Four or five years later I still have it and it's still brilliant :) been dropped and smashed that many times and you wouldn't even know.

Aviation - vhf

UHF CB -

Marine - uhf & vhf

Railways?

Commercial security - uhf

Taxis?

Best is to use the search band and log the frequencies u hear as well as the time/date.
