Re: GME TX3440 Review?
Have had one for a year now.
very loud audio, being a remote mic , pretty much a loud speaker was put in
if u buy one u get a extension lead of a meter or two. selcall is good and extra channels are prob the best feature as u can lsiten to the whole uhf band 400 - 520, u can name ur own channels so instead of looking at freq and scratching ur head wat is it, u can scan aswell to see wat u pick up,
change colours to red or green or green screen and orange buttons, handy for mobile situations being remote mic
the only problem i had
mounting bracket was weird especially for mounting , extension speakers r pretty much useless due to loudnes of the set itself, screen writing for extra channels abit small to read

Re: GME TX3440 Review?
IC400pro are nice, I have one in each car with fire, police, uhf cb and some other select freq and will do 25w TX if programmed with dealer software, radios can be reallined to get TX from 430 to 480Mhz cont - nice option for hams but no remote head option. Icom has just released another UHF CB that also has a remote mic setup like the gme, not sure what the go is with them. Features are all there but the design is some 4+ years old so it lacks some of the ease of use features the other know have, but that said the programming software will allow you to tweek it configs and buttons on the radio to suite your needs, If you want to make changed to freq etc you will need cable and software to do it, I don't believe this can be done from within the radio.SunnybankScan wrote:Thanks fire_resuce

GME is good, harder to get programming software/cable, not sure if you need cable and software to program aditional reciving freq. but if you need a headless unit it's good, GME is Australian made from memory vs Icom which is made in Japan and Uniden in China. Also I believe the tx is locked to UHF CB freq's only but not sure. Scanning and ease of use are good.
Uniden, they are average quality (shame there scanners are good), I have heard there has been some issues with them early after there release but they may have fixed it. I don't think you need speclist software to program these units but I have seen/heard comments you will need a degree to understand how to program them via the mike, never tried my self.
Based on working at friends communication business up north, they sell more GME and Uniden as they compete with simular feature/pricing, gme seem to be a more ruggered unit for easer mounting in strange areas of the car/truck

Re: GME TX3440 Review?
I have the 3420 - similar radio - good little unit - happy with it - does the job - loud in the 4x4 i drive - was going to get the 400Pro - however size for mounting was the issue i faced
If you are looking at a remote head mount - the 3440/3420 will more than do the job.
Good sensitivity on RX and reasonabily easy to program RX

Re: GME TX3440 Review?
Is there an easier way to program listening channels other than via PC. You have to search all the way from 403?
Cheers
