Crystals?

Post by brianWE »

Somewhere, I have an old 8 channel UHF/VHF desktop scanner from I think, Sweden.
(it is currently "lost" among a lot of crap I have to sort out for a pending change of address...will post a pic when I find it.)

Anyway it doesn't have any crystals.
I like the retro styling and wouldn't mind having it with a few local emergency frequencies .

Just wondering where I might get a couple of crystals and how much they might cost.
Was thinking of police VHF.

HyQ in Victoria. Possibly about $30.00 to $40.00 each depending on size, cut, etc.

In all honesty, it may be nearly as cheap to get another scanner.

Absolutely!!!
But, really, this thing is quite retro. I only want it as a working curio.
My old Bearcat will do everything I need...and I am on the verge of getting a new portable.

Have been considering getting my old ICR 7100 fixed, though.

Well you wouldn't be alone... there is a small following of enthusiasts getting these units back into operational condition, YouTube has a handful of clips related to this undertaking 8)

Oops!

Just lost a post because my log-in had lapsed (I deleted some cookies)

Anyway, it is cool that I am not alone.
When I was a kid, a mate had a 1936 Ford V8.

Would LOVE to get something like that back on the road.
OK, maybe some technical updates.

While I am in a nostalgic mode, must get a few pics of my neighbour's new hotrod.
Body shell is a 1947 Ford Anglia.
Roof is chopped (lowered)
Rear end is by Jaguar.
Motor is Chevrolet.....V8, of course.

Whole thing is bright red...

Absolutely gorgeous.
