Just some parts I had around, windsurfer mast bolted on to the side of the garage and a old marine antenna and uhf cb antenna below.

What kind of VSWR are you getting with the antenna so close to the mast (UHF) and without a sufficient ground plane (marine)? :)

Would guess that the marine vhf antenna is a dipole as they go on f/glass boats, they work a treat, I use one for the R20, the antenna was broken so I slipped heat shrink over the break, no good for the boat but ok for the shed. If it's a 27Mhz some ground plane will help greatly.

You cheap BASTARD.....recycling like that will put Antenna makers out of business :)
