yeah mate, all the aussie radio forums are the same, even USA forums are quiet, I think the lack of new technology and not much happening comms wise is keeping it quiet!

I was just thinking today there hasn't been any new scanners released by any of the major manufacturers in a while. It's a shame Uniden haven't released any desktop scanners like an Australian version of the 996xt.

I'm going to be late for an appointment but I thought it would be good to post this before I leave.

It's a relatively new entrant to the market and is a SDR radio. The company behind it is actually not CommRadio, but Aerocoms (if you google them). It is something new, and has really piqued my interest, though at this point in time I'm also trying to cope with naunces of DMR, new HF antenna designs and as such, have multiple projects to focus on so didn't have the time to really review, purchase or tear apart this radio (I don't have one in my posession).

There appears to be no discriminator output, and connection to a computer is limited. However for its size, I still think it has much potential. Oh, did I mention it can run on a single 18650 battery and current drain is miniscule? Essentially you can carry it around without worry of power supply - the biggest appeal to me!

Note however, it is primarily intended to be a HF receiver and as such, VHF and UHF in particular are limited. It is my opinion that they were added in because the receiver could do it, not because it was intended to do it.

500 kHz-30 MHz, 64-260 MHz and 437-468 MHz in AM, SSB, CW, WBFM, NBFM modes
