I will be driving back and fourth to Roma (about 200klms out side of roma) quite a bit from next week. Should I look at getting a phone antenna on my ute for the trip? I will away 28days at a time and wasn't to sure what I should do re this. I have an iPhone 4S to work with. What are my options to try and get a bit better service as far as phone calls and texts go? I will be using Telstra network as that's my only option...

Telstra is your best bet out that way anyway. Reception is quite good between Toowoomba and Miles. There are a couple of dead spots, but nothing major. Between Miles and Roma there are a few more, especially Toowoomba side of Walumbilla. We have guys travelling to Roma a couple of times a week. They are just using their standard phone, no antenna.

Plenty of antennas on ebay. Just make sure they are for the 850Mhz range, that is what Telstra nextg network is on.

you would have to purchase a passive cradle then you can connect both the power and antenna to it the cradles range in prices

Or I your phone as the connection point a patch lead. Most smart phone would need the cradle Phil mentioned though.
