Post by ozstickman »

Gday everyone, I need a little help here, I found this years ago when I bought a house in Warwick. What is it?

That's not just any pre-tuned CB antenna, that's a Mobile One DX270SAMPK! a Heavy Duty 27Mhz CB antenna for your 4X4 or Truck, requires a bullbar or similar substantial mounting location

Yeah it weights a ton. I will have to get a SWR meter and see if its still somewhat in tune. It has tape on the end but I am not sure if it was fine tuned or the tip been broken. I wouldn't mind one of those new Uniden SSB 27mhz radios from the USA and setting it up in my car!

Yeah well the 980SSB is about your best bet as I'm told the new generation Cobra SSB radios aren't too great out of the box...

Thats a pre Galactic SkipWhip......anyone using one of those things now
should fold up their Zimmer and lie down and die.....
They had a good life in the 80's.....an SWR of about 7 billion to 1 , a range of about 10 foot,
and the first bump you went over the spring base whipped them so hard they snapped.
Shocking things....and they cost about $70 in 1977.....thats about $350 today.
