Extension speaker low volume
Plugging an extension speaker into a UBC93XLT is a futile exercise as the socket appears to be volume-limited to protect hearing when using earphones. The fix for this problem is likely to be the simple shorting of a resistor. However, as my 93 is still under warranty, I cannot risk opening the case to locate the offending resistor. Has anyone else looked into this problem of low speaker volume in a 93XLT?

What about using external speakers which have an amplifier built in (i.e. like used with a PC)

A 8 or 4 ohm external speaker wont be very loud, You might have to take it for warranty when you overload the audio amp in the radio.
