Gold Coast Schoolies - live feed on air

Post by geoffro316 »

G'day everyone. Just letting you know I am covering Gold Coast Schoolies for the next 2 weeks (first week Qld Schoolies, 2nd week NSW Schoolies) with my live feed at www.moretondiver.com/livescannerfeed.html . This is the lineup;

Left Speaker - Fire & Rescue Ch 20 (FireCom Southeast), Ambulance Ch 71 (QAS Comms)

Right Speaker - Police Ch's 18 & 34 (Schoolies Forward Command - mainly active during the night), Police Ch 100 (VKR Gold Coast), Fire & Rescue Ch 's 1,3 & 5 (Fireground simplex), Fire & Rescue Ch 8 (FireCom Schoolies), State Emergency Service Ch 9, Surf Rescue Ch's 6 & 7 (SurfCom Gold Coast), GCCC Lifeguards

Does anyone out there know the new frequency for the Police/pub & club security guard liasion channel? It's apparently only been operating for about a month or so, and enables the pub & club security guards to call the Police direct via radio (not sure if they call the Camera Room, VKR or Surfers Paradise Police Station?).

Also, anyone got any other freqs worth monitoring during Schoolies?

Cheers!

Sure, here's the list of freqs that I'm monitoring (from Coolangatta area - UHF yagi 2 1/2 storeys up pointed accross the water straight at Surfers Paradise)....

LEFT SPEAKER

469.075 QPS Ch 100 (VKR - General)
466.950 QFRS Ch 20 (FireCom SE - General)
412.550 QAS Ch 71 (QAS Comms - General)

RIGHT SPEAKER

467.775 SES Ch 09 (Rpt)
466.725 SES (Rpt)
156.800 VHF Marine Ch 16 (Simplex)
160.775 VHF Marine Ch 63 (Bne Water Police - Mt Cotton Rpt)
466.100 VHF Marine Ch 73 (UHF VMR rpt link)
163.625 GCCC Lifeguards
488.650 SLSQ Ch 6 (SurfCom Gold Coast - Emergency channel)
487.625 SLSQ Ch 7 (SurfCom Gold Coast - General)
465.525 QFRS Ch 01 (Fireground simplex)
465.550 QFRS Ch 03 (Fireground simplex)
465.675 QFRS Ch 05 (Fireground simplex)
465.725 QFRS Ch 08 (FireCom Schoolies - portable repeater)
468.050 QPS Ch 18 (Schoolies Forward Command rpt)
468.250 QPS Ch 34 (Surfers Paradise Traffic Command rpt)

The QPS Schoolies Forward Command channel is mainly used after about 1700 each evening (a fair bit of action on this channel of a night). The QPS Traffic Command channel hasnt been used that much over the last week, but I've heard a little bit on it. I can pick up the QFRS Fireground simplex channels if the guys are up in the high rises. Surf Life Saving is mainly active on Saturdays and Sundays, but you do hear some comms during the week (or weeknights if they are called out). GCCC Lifeguards have extra guards on duty on the beach at Surfers of a night for the Schoolies. I havent heard much on the 2 SES repeater channels yet. Maybe they are using simplex at Schoolies?

If you only want to listen to Schoolies stuff of a night, just turn down the volume for the left speaker (or take your left earpiece out!).

Enjoy
Cheers

The QPS operations channel is operated in a special room by a police officer not a CRO because its treated like a normal incident command post. As usual all you hear is stupid pissheads been dragged back to the Surfers Paradise police station because they cant control themselves.

All the QPS foot units are kitted out with GPS which is monitored live from the Command Post (1 GPS per unit).

Was listening to the QPS trying to locate a missing swimmer on the beach the other night. Quite interesting. Also listening to Lifeguards that dragged a body out of the water yesterday. They tried CPR for about 30 mins without any luck. Also sounds like the firies have had a few problems getting their appliances out of the Schoolies Precinct to respond to calls! Glad I've kept away from Surfers!
