Simoco SRM9030

Post by ozradio »

Hey All,

I have a Simoco SRM9030 which we are currently testing for use in our company on a trunked network. We have both a few talk group channels as well as a single dispatch channel which we use. Our setup with the SRM9030 lets us connect to both the dispatch channel as well as the talkgroup channel at the same time. For the purpose of this example we will use the following talk group spec's...

Main Dispatch 12200000
Talk Group 1 12200001
Talk Group 2 12200002
Talk Group 3 12200003

The problem we are having is that after we connect to both the main dispatch channel as well as the appropriate talk group channel when we use the PTT button it defaults to the dispatch channel for the new call. What we want is for all the radios to monitor the dispatch channel for incoming calls but when a user presses the PTT button it opens the call on the selected talk group channel. If we go through the phone book and select the talk group and press the call button the first time it will connect to the talk group while maintaining the monitoring of the dispatch channel and will show the Confirming... message but when we press the PTT button afterwards to start a call on the talk group channel it instead opens the dispatch channel.

Any assistance with this is appreciated.

Hey All,

After some fiddling around and experimentation we have found out why it wasn't working. It was something to do with the way the Simoco monitors the different groups you are connected to and by default connects the PTT to the first user defined group based on the dialstring of *50*. What we have done is switched things around so that the talk group is connected to using dial string *50* and the dispatch group is connected to using the dialstring *51*. What this does is default PTT to the talk group but monitors both the talk group as well as the main dispatch channel.
