Vicpol going all digital ???????

I read in the local paper that Regional Victoria Police is looking into going digital encrypted & it could happen as soon as the end of 2015.

Does anyone have more info about this story ?

I don't know where exactly you live, I did hear recently that the 3BA radio station in Ballarat recently made mention of the local police going "encrypted" and that would be in the coming months. Obviously I don't know what their source of information is or how credible it is, but again that's the only recent discussion of it happening.

There was of course the election promise made by premier Daniel Andrews- http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-10-20/v ... rk/5827286 before he was elected... so now he is in office we'll wait and see if anything eventuates.

Following on from the press articles towards the last months of 2014 there was a Ministerial press release on January 21st, 2015. It stated that the Minister for Police had started negotiations to get the ball rolling on this project. It also confirmed the end result will be encryption.
