What transpires over the near future will be the decider for me to purchase a 'digital' scanner. My post was relevant to this issue for me.

An irrelevant question unless you have a Digital scanner.

And the question has been answered previously in this thread.

According to the list of Peers broadcast by Middle Ridge, the following Sites are active, however I haven't heard anything on the Bony Mountain or Mt Perseverance frequencies.

Sites
RFSS - 6
01 - Middle Ridge (Toowoomba - called Gabbinbah by Ergon) - 165.3250
02 - Mt Domville (Millmerran) - 165.2875
03 - Mt Perseverance - 165.2750
04 - Mt Mowbullan - 165.2500
05 - Bony Mountain - 165.3000

Also heard what I believe was the Acacia Plateau Site on 166.6875, but it was not strong enough to decode.

Middle Ridge has also been heard on 165.6250, so the above information is probably not the final configuration.

Oh! And they have been using Encryption.

Thanks for the update comint.

They have made some changes in the last few months then. I was up there early in March and Middle Ridge was the only site running with no peers whatsoever. I got a couple of affiliations with rids of 61250 and 62900 but no voice unfortunately. Interesting to see if enc is run across the board or just the techs...

Ergon Energy Queensland

Probably just the techs I would imagine as it would be alot of overhead for Ergon Energy. I know the NSWGRN and VicMMR Techs run encryption so members of the public don't know what's going on

Has anyone managed to get a decode with the Ergon system using UniTrunker??

I could monitor 165.325 today with the 396XT and was getting some enc. conversations on TG 6031, but couldn't seem to get to get UT to play nicely. It may have been the signal on the disc. tapped scanner, although I did swap to the external antenna the 396XT was receiving on and still couldn't decode it...

Yup, like that :)

Was that from yesterday Comint?

Is it still just the techs rolling out / testing the network or has it started to be used by operational crews?

No. That was a screen capture I made earlier this year, to send to someone else. However, UniTrunker is still decoding this morning.

Don't know, as I haven't been listening to them - only decoding the CC.

However, you may notice on some of their Utes, there is a five-digit number (starting with 6) painted on the side of the front mudguards, up near the windscreen. This is possibly the Radio ID (RID), which is basically the Trunked equivalent of a Callsign. So, keep an eye out for the vehicle numbers, and then see if they show up in the log files.

Ergon Energy Queensland

At present Ergon have only one site running which could have changed in the last couple of weeks, they have also changed there mind re encryption for some unknown reason, originally the pstn calls were the only thing but who knows.

Thanks Comint,

I would say I wasn't getting a good enough signal on the disc. tapped scanner for UT to start decoding. Might be time to see if a can setup a netbook at a friends place in Toowoomba to access remotely

Phil that is interesting, are you saying they were thinking of going clear for general ops but are thinking they might go enc. for everything now (which would be a real pita)!

There have been at least 5 Sites running since before 12th June 2012, see ( .../viewtopic.php?f=216&p=29097).

If the Sites weren't running, they wouldn't show in the Peers list.

Rooster,

from the talk i had with someone from Ergon they will be running ENC on most things with the occasional clear voice however i dont know as they seem to change there minds.

Comint

although they are appearing on the peers list which i have seen aswell i have confirmed with Ergon Telecommunications team that the only site that is on is Middle Ridge, this could have changed since i spoke with them

The NSWGRN techs was nothing exciting .... just site testing, base channel testing, "i am at location A, going to location B", informal talk
The manager of the techs got irritated with the fact that every action they took being reported in one particular forum, so they decided to encrypt the tech talkgroups.
Well over two years on they remain encrypted
So always assume that whoever you are listening to, can read these posts - which I understand is frequently the case

In the SE they are still on the Telstra Fleetscom UHF MPT system.

They are the only user with the prefix of 019-xxxx.

Very active last week with the storm...other times there is not a lot of activity from them.
