Discone for Uniden UBCD436_PT

Would just like some advise on a good quality discone antenna and what cable should be used? Will a pre amp be helpful?

Do you particularly want a discone? A vertical dual band VHF/UHF amateur antenna would probably do a better job especially if you plan on doing a lot of VHF/UHF listening.

Otherwise any of the few radio shops stock discones and go for RG213 cable for longer runs or you can get by with RG58 if its a short run. Benelec make a reasonable quality cable. Naturally there is a lot more expensive cables but it will depend on you budget.

Also the purists will suggest you avoid RG58 totally but for a short run up to 10 metres will work fine.
