It is a commercial GME, not just a CB
I didn't know there was a "commercial" version of the TX3600.

I figured that,if there was one, it would have a different model number to set it apart from mere CB radios..marketing.
Been wrong, before, though.

40 channel CB plus other channels for receive only.
It is a commercial GME, not just a CB
GME is currently selling this radio as a UHF CB, not commercial.

Yes.
I'm guessing there are still some NIB ones still in the market.

But, to get back on topic, the original poster is asking about the TX3600 which he, already, has.
It would seem to be incompatible with 80 CB channel software.

Rustuc, upload your file mate and I'll have a look at it for you.

As others have mentioned, the TX3600 is a commercial radio and can be programmed with any frequency in its band limits - this includes 80 channel CB, although it is likely only type approved for 40 channel CB.

If you can't upload the file you need to deselect the 'Enable Aust CB Channel' option and simply add the 80 UHF CB channels as per http://www.uhfcb.com.au/80-Channel-UHF-Information.php.

When you do program it, remember:
- mark each channel as ''Set as Narrow Band" (except 22/23).
- enable "Talk Around" on channels 1-8 and 71-78.
- disable transmit on 22/23 (for data only).
- disable transmit on 61/62/63 (not used).

Thanks all for the replies
peteramjet this is what i have done but can't get it to work. Transmits fine but will not receive anything. I'm not sure how to or where to upload the file? I am starting to think that it may need a firmware update, but on the other hand as a few have said it is a commercial radio with 99 programmable ch's and the 80ch uhf fall within it's frequency range so it should work. I emailed the file to another member the other day to look at, he didn't find much (i didnt have narrow band on all channels) other than that he seemed to think it looked ok.. I fixed up the narrow band issue but it still didn't work??

Have you checked CTCSS tones and mic off cradle settings? If they are all good, is there any chance the receiver in the radio be shot? Program a busy commercial PMR channel into it on RX only (a police channel would be good) and make sure the radio still receives.

Will check CTCSS now. Radio is ok because as soon as i get rid off the 80ch data and go back to standard 40ch UHF it functions spot on.

I'm at a loss then sorry mate. I don't know of any firmware updates for these radios, and there was no specific 'firmware update' to upgrade this to 80 UHF channels as it was replaced before they became the norm - having said that it should be able to be programmed with the channels regardless as it is a commercial radio (as your mate's radio has been).

I'm still inclined to believe it's a programming issue for the CB receive, especially as it is TXing fine and receiving normal commercial PMR channels fine.

My advice would be to send your program file to someone who plays with GME radios and get them to see what you are doing wrong.
For your info i use a TX3600 in my mobile and it is a good little rig
