Tasmania Police

Post by Scannersplitterguy »

Hi all,

What system does Tasmania Police use (mainly Hobart)?
Digital or analogue or a mixture?
Frequency ranges would be good to know too.

Finch will be able to give you a definant answer otherwise this is his site http://www.scanningtasmania.org/freqs.html

But yes by the looks of it the police are on the EDACS network which is mostly analogue still.

Statewide EDACS network. Some channels are digital using ProVoice and there is NO way around that. Most normal duty is on the analogue channels. Operations etc are all done on the ProVoice groups.
It's in the 800MHz band. http://www.scanningtasmania.org/edacs.html

If you have any troubles setting it up on your scanner try these:
996/396 http://www.scanningtasmania.org/396-996-howto.html
T9 http://www.scanningtasmania.org/T8-9guide.html

To everyone’s benefit TasPol don't use many codes apart from the usual ones. The callsigns are pretty straight forward, If you need a list and a little background on them just ask.
