Pager problems with flooding

Post by rooster »

Hi all,

Is anyone still receiving pager data on 148.6375 or 148.5625?

Not getting a thing here on the sunshine coast. Tried three different scanners (which are rx' ing other stuff fine).

The storms seems to have knocked out the systems...

Even though the News is saying that Telstra is having troubles in the Northern part of the State, a lot of services in South East Queensland, like the Internet, landline phones, and Data services, are down, due to Telstra problems, and I imagine at least some of the Pager network is also over Telstra circuits.

I can hear the Brisbane transmitters (on the same frequencies) up in Buderim, but the level is low and I'm not getting a good decode success rate. Pt. Cartwright usually booms in, I don't need an outdoor antenna to receive it..

Last night (27/01) in the central region Firecom spent hours setting off station alarms to get crews manned at all stations. Mt Morgan has been having trouble with phone and data since Friday so if Firecom wants to contact stn38 they call the SO on the radio and he has to drive out to the range to get service on the station mobile.

I rode my pushbike up to Pt. Cartwright this morning. It looks like the whole area is still without power, Energex have a large, mobile generator running in the street.

I normally have a good signal from the transmitter in Townsville 80+ km away. But at the moment it is up & down with the signal. I can have 100% decoding and the next moment it drop to 45% for a little while and then come back to 90-100% again. Like a rollercoaster. Up and down all the time.
Hope it soon will be better again.

Ok thanks guys, looks like it was a combination of things causing trouble over a number of areas.

This morning 6375 and 5625 are now running again on the Sunshine Coast at 100% decode for me.
