Radio Communications Festival (QLD)

Post by rochedalescan »

Hello members,

I am currently putting together a get together for all interested in Radio Communications, I will be inviting radio dealers, retailers, radio clubs + some other businesses + anyone generally interested.

I am just wanting to know a show of hands for those who are interested in attending + some idea's of what you would like to see etc maybe a used radio sale or something bring your old unused gear.

A location would be good if anyone can think of somewhere resonably bigish aswell. I will be sorting out some T-Shirts and hats before then aswell so I can get some out to you guys at the festival.

At this time there is no date as it is still in planning.

Im welcoming all idea's :)

Sounds like a great idea, have like a swap meet, where we can exchange bits and pieces.
Have information areas, ie specialist things ie data communications, radio propagation, how mobile phones work etc etc
Have active displays, ie air band receiving, marine band, HF, get some local amateur clubs to setup

Hope that gives ya some ideas Shane
Cheers

See if you can get a ad in the WIA 9 o'clock regional news on sunday.
Also you might be able to put in a event ad on the VK HAM classifieds.

Just remember that Radio Amateurs have 'hamfests' at various times throughout the year, and various radio dealers, retailers, and radio clubs are already committed to attending those functions, so choosing the right date is crucial.

For example, there is a hamfest on the Sunshine Coast on 12 Sep 2009, and another on the Gold Coast on 14 Nov 2009.

Depends on the organisers, but mainly in hired halls, although some Clubs have suitable facilities of their own (eg, the Summerland Amateur Radio Club in Lismore).

The Sunshine Coast event, Sunfest, is at the Woombye School of Arts this year, and the Gold Coast event is at the Albert Waterways Hall, Broadbeach (near Pacific Fair and Jupiters).
